Uganda has joined continental and global players at the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algiers, Algeria, with Finance Minister Matia Kasaija representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The week-long fair runs from 4th to 10th September 2025.
Organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, the IATF has grown into Africa’s leading platform for trade, investment, and business networking.
Uganda is using the event to showcase its export potential and attract investors, with the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority spearheading the country’s exhibition.
Key highlights include displays of Ugandan products ready for export and presentations on priority sectors open for investment.
Minister Kasaija noted that Uganda’s participation is aimed at wooing investors, strengthening bilateral ties with Algeria, and positioning the country to benefit from the AfCFTA market of 1.4 billion people, valued at more than USD 3.5 trillion in GDP.
Themed “Boosting Intra-African Trade for a Sustainable Future: Innovation, Value Addition, and Green Industrialisation,” IATF 2025 emphasizes Africa’s commitment to building self-sustaining economies through innovation and cross-border trade.
Uganda’s presence at the trade fair signals its determination to tap into continental markets, promote industrial growth, and secure strategic partnerships for long-term development.
