The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat on Thursday hosted leaders of various mobilization pressure groups to strategize ahead of the presidential campaigns set to begin in October.
The meeting, held at the NRM Secretariat headquarters and chaired by National Treasurer Amb. Barbara Nekesa, sought to harmonize efforts of all groups campaigning for President Yoweri Museveni’s reelection in 2026.
“We invited you here to discuss how we can cooperate to forge a joint campaign task force team that will traverse the country seeking support for President Museveni,” Nekesa said.
She urged the groups to mobilize party members and supporters to fill Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on September 23rd for the president’s nomination rally.
“I want us to mobilise Ugandans who will fill Kololo Grounds to capacity after the nomination of our great icon by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The city must be painted all yellow because NRM is big,” she added.
Nekesa revealed that on Friday, the Secretariat will deliver 2.2 million signatures endorsing Museveni’s nomination to the Electoral Commission.
“The EC requires only 100 signatures from each district, but we obtained thousands, which shows NRM’s strength,” she said.
She further emphasized that the NRM has advanced social and economic transformation, citing the Parish Development Model and Emyooga as key programs that mobilizers should promote in communities.
NRM Director of Mobilization, Dr. Rosemary Seninde, commended the pressure groups for voluntarily supporting President Museveni’s campaign efforts.
“You are good cadres because you have committed to campaign for the interests of President Museveni without expectations. As a party, we thank you for the brick you have added to the NRM,” Seninde said.
The Director of Finance and Administration, Hajjat Medina Naham, encouraged mobilizers to spread messages of economic empowerment.
“Our ordinary people should be guided to fight household poverty through government programs like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga,” she said.
Meanwhile, Director of External Affairs, Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, urged discipline and consistency among mobilizers.
“Be a great ambassador of the party by maintaining discipline during mobilization activities and always speak about NRM’s achievements,” Awich said.
The meeting drew mobilizers from across the country, including Kazo, Mbarara, Karamoja, Arua, and Iganga, among others.
