President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday officially launched his 2026 presidential campaigns at Bukalasa Agricultural College grounds in Luweero, delivering a stern warning against corruption and pledging decisive action against the theft of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds and government drugs.
Arriving alongside the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, shortly after a rainfall, President Museveni was received by thousands of jubilant supporters who defied the weather to welcome him.
Addressing the crowd, the President rallied citizens to play an active role in fighting corruption within their communities.
“You know the thieves. They are your leaders. We should work together to arrest them,” he said, drawing thunderous applause.
He criticised widespread theft of medical supplies in public health facilities and warned that those responsible would be held to account to safeguard essential public services.
On employment, President Museveni reiterated that government cannot directly employ every citizen, urging Ugandans to embrace wealth creation through commercial agriculture and entrepreneurship.
He showcased video testimonies of PDM beneficiaries who had transformed their lives using the four-acre model.
Looking ahead, Museveni said the upcoming commercial oil production would unlock additional revenue to finance national development projects.
The President was warmly received by senior NRM leaders, including members of the Central Executive Committee, top Secretariat officials, ministers, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries.
NRM Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko hailed Museveni’s “visionary leadership,” saying it has driven socio-economic transformation in Luweero and across the country.
