Kisoro Teacher Busted for PLE Science Exam Leak via WhatsApp

Police in Kisoro District have arrested 38-year-old Michael Begumisa, a teacher at Kashenyi Integrated School in Ntungamo District, for allegedly possessing a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) science paper with answers circulated via WhatsApp.

The incident occurred on November 4, 2025, at around 9:40 a.m. at St. Allen’s Primary School in Kisoro, where Begumisa was serving as a UNEB scout.

He was reportedly caught red-handed by Asizua Gordon Okua, 59, a Senior Inspector of Schools from the Directorate of Education Standards and a PLE monitor in Kisoro.

Police say that the teacher’s smartphone contained a suspected PLE science paper with answers covering all questions.

Evidence indicates that Begumisa received the paper two hours before the scheduled start of the exam.

Okua immediately reported the matter to police. Authorities visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and confiscated the teacher’s phone. Begumisa was arrested for further questioning.

The smartphone will undergo forensic analysis to determine the source of the exam paper and identify anyone else involved in the malpractice.

ASP Maate Elly, Police PRO for Kigezi Sub region confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and pledged that all responsible parties will be held accountable.
