Three people were injured on Wednesday following Political clashes at Gasiza Trading Centre, Nyarusiza Sub-county in Kisoro District.
According to Police, the incident occurred around 5:00 PM as Hon. Sam Bitangaro was proceeding to a rally at Kwanyakwezi Trading Centre.
Reports indicate that his convoy was confronted by supporters of Hon. Alex Niyonsaba, who were reportedly armed with pangas, bottles and sticks.
The victims, identified as Tumwesigye Nelson, Habyarimana Silvan, and Sibomana Ronald, were attacked during the confrontation.
The District Police Commander (DPC) of Kisoro responded promptly, rescuing the injured and ensuring they received medical attention at a local hospital.
Police have documented the scene, and some suspects have been identified, with arrests and possible prosecution pending as investigations continue.
ASP Maate Elly, Police spokesperson for Kigezi, confirmed that inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
