The Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament Candidate, Ms Ninsiima Evelyn Kikafunda, has advised parents to put children’s education at the centre of their priorities, calling it the greatest gift a parent can give.
Ms Kikafunda made the appeal on Saturday during a BAAF fundraising function at Rubanda Parish in Rubanda District, organised to mobilise resources for the renovation of Immaculate Heart Nursery and Primary School.
The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Charles Mugabe, the parish priest of Rutenga Parish in Kanungu District.
She said education guarantees lifelong security and empowerment, noting that a child who is properly educated can stand on their own even when their parents are no longer alive.
She reminded parents that while property can be lost, education remains a permanent inheritance.
Ms Kikafunda also asked the people of Rubanda to entrust her with their mandate in the forthcoming elections, pledging to focus on sustainable development, improved social services, and better livelihoods for families across the district.
In his homily Rev. Fr. Mugabe asked Christians to support education projects and to ensure that school facilities are properly maintained so that learners can study in a dignified and conducive environment.
