The Government of Uganda has released Shs 259 Billion as the first tranche for the capitalization of Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs in the 2025/26 financial year.
Finance Minister, Matia Kasaija, announced on Tuesday that starting on Wednesday, all 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will receive Shs 50 million each, directly credited to their SACCO accounts.
Under the PDM policy, funds are released in two tranches of Shs 50 million per SACCO every six months.
“The Parish Development Model is no longer a theory; it is a reality. It is in your parishes. It is in your households. PDM is growing bigger, stronger, and more impactful,” Kasaija said while releasing the funds at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Since its inception, the government has transferred Shs 3.216 trillion directly to all 10,589 parishes. Each parish has now received at least Shs 300 million, with 99% of the funds already disbursed to 3.27 million Ugandan’s.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots economic initiatives and ensuring that the benefits of PDM reach ordinary citizens.
