Four female passengers are receiving treatment at Rugazi Health Centre IV in Rubirizi District following a serious accident on Wednesday morning at Nyakashaaru along the Ishaka-Kasese road.
Regional Police Public Relations Officer for Greater Bushenyi, SP Tayebwa Apollo, identified the victims as Twinomugisha Anner (28), Nalubega Shadita (21), Nakilarila Harriet, and a juvenile named Rahim.
SP Tayebwa said the accident involved an Isuzu bus, registration UBH 881B, belonging to Global Bus Company, which occurred at 6:10 a.m.
“We visited the scene and managed it according to standard procedures. The victims were taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV, where they are currently receiving medical care,” he said.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accident happened when the bus driver swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
“The bus has been impounded, and the driver released on police bond while investigations continue,” SP Tayebwa added.
He urged all road users to strictly observe road safety rules to prevent similar incidents.
