The Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB, has cancelled the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination results of 35 pupils from Rushabo Primary School in Kahungye Sub County, Kabale District, following findings of examination malpractice.

The examination body confirmed that the results were withheld after investigations indicated that the school provided external assistance to candidates during examinations.

Last week, UNEB summoned the affected pupils, school administrators, and district education authorities to appear before its disciplinary committee.

Moses Bwengye, the Kabale District Education Officer, confirmed that he attended the committee hearing alongside the pupils and school administrators. However, he declined to disclose details of the proceedings.

Speaking on the matter, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the results were cancelled after the board gathered overwhelming evidence linking the candidates to malpractice.

She explained that the pupils were given an opportunity to defend themselves but the evidence presented showed clear violations of examination regulations. Kalule-Musamba further stated that the affected pupils were advised to repeat Primary Seven this year, since they were aware of the examination rules and procedures.

She also noted that UNEB would take disciplinary action against officials who failed to perform their supervisory duties during the examinations.
