The Kabale District Accountant, Fadson Biryomumeisho Mihanda, has urged young people to embrace agriculture as a viable way to improve their homes and livelihoods.
He made the call while serving as the chief guest at the handover of a cow to seven members of the Kishaze Youth Group, during a function held on Sunday at Rwanyena Parish, Church of Uganda Rukore Archdeaconry, Kigezi Diocese.
Biryomumeisho, who also serves as the Chairperson of Planning and Development at Rwanyena Church of Uganda, noted that it is quite absurd that many youths only aspire for white-collar jobs, forgetting that agriculture can be a powerful tool for transforming their communities.
He further encouraged young people to use their time wisely, pursue their goals diligently, and set good examples for future generations.
Joab Owomugisha, Chairperson of the Kishaze Youth Group, explained that the group has 19 members and gives cows to members every six months as part of efforts to alleviate poverty.
He also called on the government to support the group through programs such as the Youth Livelihood Program and the Parish Development Model, to help them grow economically.
