The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira has asked Christians across the diocese to embrace God’s love and live renewed lives as they celebrate Easter.

Delivering his Easter message to Journalists at Diocesan head quarters on Wednesday, Bishop Rubaramira emphasized that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest sign of God’s love for humanity and a source of new life for all Christians. He called on Christians to reflect deeply on the meaning of Holy Week and actively participate in the saving mysteries of Christ.

Bishop Rubaramira noted that while people in the Old Testament looked forward to salvation, Christians today are called to experience and live it through the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Quoting John 3:16, Bishop Rubaramira reminded believers that God’s love was fully revealed through the gift of His Son, who came to bring eternal life to all who believe. He further referenced Mark 10:45 and Matthew 20:28, highlighting Christ’s sacrifice as a ransom for many—a sacrifice commemorated on Good Friday.

Bishop Rubaramira urged Christians to draw hope from the resurrection, noting that it assures them of victory over sin and death and promises eternal life. He also reflected on the significance of the Easter Vigil, describing it as a moment that sets Christians apart from darkness and leads them into grace and unity with God.

He encouraged Christians to allow the light of Christ, symbolized by the Easter candle, to overcome any darkness in their lives. “May the light of Christ guide you to surrender all forms of sin and walk in righteousness,” he said.

He also called on the faithful to live out Christ’s commandment of love as taught in John 13:34–35, urging them to become true witnesses and agents of love in their communities.

Bishop Rubaramira concluded by wishing all Christians good health, peace, and joy, and prayed that the blessings of Easter may shine upon them and fill their lives with the grace of the risen Lord.
