The Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, Rev. Fr. Austin Christmas, has challenged men to actively support their spouses in growing food to sustain their families.

Delivering his homily during the celebration of the Passion of Christ and the Veneration of the Cross at Rushoroza Cathedral on Friday evening, Fr. Austin noted that women dominate agricultural work in most communities.

He observed that in many gardens, about 80 percent of those working are women, and urged men to take a more active role. He emphasized that men have the energy and capacity to contribute significantly, adding that joint effort between spouses would increase agricultural production and help reduce famine.

Fr. Austin also pointed out that in many homes, family responsibilities have been left to a few individuals, placing a heavy burden on them. He likened these struggles to the cross carried by Jesus Christ.
