The Government has directed that all public service jobs be advertised with clear disclaimers warning the public against bribing recruitment officers, in a renewed effort to curb corruption in the hiring process.
The directive was revealed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Ben Kumumanya, during the opening of a two-week orientation for Heads of Human Resource Management from Local Governments. The training is currently underway at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.
The orientation, which brings together 237 Heads of Human Resource from across the country, has been organised by the Ministry of Local Government in collaboration with the Civil Service College and the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi.
The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of human resource leaders and reposition them as strategic and professional officers capable of driving reforms within the public service. It also seeks to revolutionise human resource management in government institutions.
Running under the core values of patience, commitment, and sacrifice, the training is expected to equip participants with skills to enhance efficiency in human resource functions, including recruitment, payroll management, and pension administration.
Kumumanya emphasized that participants are expected to develop effective human resource systems and strategies to combat corruption, particularly in recruitment processes and access to the government payroll.
He reiterated the government’s stance that all public jobs must be openly advertised and stressed that recruitment into government service is free of charge, cautioning the public against paying any fees during the process.
