Isa Ainebyoona, the Rushaki Ward Councillor and NRM flag bearer, has been elected Speaker of Southern Division in Kabale Municipality after his opponent failed to secure a seconder during the election process.

Kabale Chief Magistrate, Derrick Byamugisha, declared Ainebyoona duly elected after Kato Daniel, the councillor representing Kirigime Ward, failed to obtain a seconder for his nomination despite appealing to several councillors.

Kato had earlier been nominated by Andrew Niwamanya, the councillor for Karubanda Ward. Shortly after the election outcome was announced, Kato stormed out of the council chambers.

Meanwhile, Kevin Ainebyoona, the Male Youth Councillor and an independent candidate, was elected Deputy Speaker unopposed.

Southern Division Chairperson, Mackline Batware, retained Atuheire Tadeo as Vice Chairperson.
