The newly sworn-in LC3 Chairperson for Central Division in Kabale Municipality, Henry Nasasira, has identified the opening and rehabilitation of dilapidated roads, as well as the establishment of an effective waste management system, as the key priorities of his administration.

Nasasira made the remarks on Monday shortly after taking oath at the Central Division Headquarters in a function presided over by Kabale Chief Magistrate, His Worship Derrick Byamugisha.

He said his leadership would focus on practical solutions to persistent challenges that have for years hindered the division’s development, particularly the poor state of access roads and the growing garbage problem in the town.

According to Nasasira, these challenges have increasingly become a burden to both the business community and residents.

He pledged to work closely with the municipal technical team to ensure the issues are addressed urgently.

Meanwhile, Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha revealed that, effective June 1, municipal authorities will begin demolishing all structures previously condemned under the trade order but whose owners opted to renovate instead of demolishing them.

Byamugisha said he had previously exercised leniency to allow property owners enough time to voluntarily demolish the condemned buildings. However, he alleged that some owners bribed civil servants to gain continued access to the unsafe structures.

He warned that enforcement of the trade order would now be implemented without fear or favour.
