Former Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaija has urged the ministry’s leadership and staff to uphold integrity and ethical conduct as they continue serving the country.

Kasaija made the call during a farewell luncheon held at Kampala Serena Hotel to honour outgoing and incoming ministers and ministers of state at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Kasaija, who served as both Minister of State and Minister of Finance for about 15 years, asked the ministry staff to maintain the values of integrity and professionalism associated with his tenure.

Finance Minister Henry Musasizi commended Kasaija for diligently completing his service at the ministry and for creating a conducive working environment for both the political and technical teams.

Musasizi also thanked former Ministers of State for Investment and Privatisation, Evelyn Anite, and Microfinance, Haruna Kasolo, for their teamwork and cordial working relationships during their tenure.

Musasizi pledged to uphold Kasaija’s legacy, saying he had learnt a great deal from the former minister and would serve with integrity to meet the expectations of Ugandans and President Yoweri Museveni.

“I have learnt a lot from him and will serve with integrity to meet the expectations of Ugandans and the appointing authority,” Musasizi said.

For his part, Dr Ggoobi thanked the outgoing ministers for their contributions to the ministry during their tenure and welcomed the new political leadership.

He pledged the full support of the technical team as the ministry continues working towards transforming Uganda into a wealthy nation.
