Police in Kasese are investigating the suspected killing of a man identified only as Robert, whose body was found in a corridor along Kasese Main Street on Wednesday morning.
According to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the body was discovered at about 6am near Pride Microfinance Bank, Kasese Branch, in Town Centre Cell, Central Division, Kasese Municipality.
Police were notified and a team visited the scene, where it was documented and examined with the help of a sniffer dog.
ASP Maate said the deceased had visible external injuries consistent with assault.
“The body was taken to Kasese Health Centre III mortuary for a postmortem,” ASP Maate said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He added that the police canine tracked a trail from the scene but eventually lost it.
Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could help identify and apprehend the suspects to come forward.
“Inquiries are still ongoing,” ASP Maate said.
