Police in Kisoro District have launched investigations into the shooting deaths of a husband and wife who were attacked by unidentified assailants as they returned from their wholesale shop in Kisoro Municipality.
The deceased have been identified as Nteziyaremye Africano and Kyompeire Peace.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Kigezi Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, the incident occurred at about 11pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Zindiro Cell, Kamonyi Ward, Kisoro Municipality.
Preliminary information indicates that the couple was attacked and shot dead by assailants believed to have been armed with a firearm.
“The scene was examined by a team of detectives and the canine unit for evidence gathering,” Tumushime said in the statement.
SP Tumushime said no arrests had been made by Sunday, adding that efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects were ongoing.

He appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in the investigations to report to the nearest police station.
