According to a statement issued by Kigezi Region Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime on Sunday the incident occurred on Saturday at around 1pm in Kinyasano Ward.

Police condemned the incident and warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.

“We appeal to the public to always arrest and hand over suspects to police or local leaders instead of beating them,” SP Tumushime said.

SP Tumushime warned that anyone found participating in mob justice would be arrested and charged with murder.

He advised the public to use lawful channels to resolve suspected criminal cases rather than resorting to mob violence.
