KABALE – The Diocese of Kigezi, encompassing Kabale, Rukiga, and Rubanda Districts, is actively seeking 600 Million Shillings for the construction of a tower at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church-Rugarama in Kabale District.
According to Can Johnson Baryantuma Munono, the head of laity in the Diocese, and Can Engineer Ivan Batuma, the architectural design of St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama was crafted by the Germans. The cathedral, opened by the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. George Leonard Carey, on May 11, 1998, holds historical significance.
Munono and Batuma disclosed that the tower was initially planned for the older church cathedral, currently serving as the library for Bishop Barham University College. They informed the congregation that the tower would comprise two vestries, washrooms, two offices, a boardroom, and a conference room.
