RUKUNGIRI – Police in Rukungiri District are currently hunting for the driver of motor vehicle registration number UBE 379Q, an Isuzu bus belonging to Highway Bus Company that knocked a motorcyclist dead along Rukungiri Ntungamo road.
The driver, whose identity remains unknown at this time, was involved in a fatal incident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Peter Musinguzi, a motorcyclist residing in Rwakirungura cell, Katojo ward, Buyanja town council in Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, reported that the tragic accident occurred yesterday evening around 06:20 PM at Buyanja Town Council along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road.
According to Maate, the driver of the Isuzu bus (registration number UBE 379Q) collided head-on with a motorcycle bearing registration number UFZ 247X, resulting in the immediate death of the rider, Peter Musinguzi.
Cpl Oketayot and the investigative team promptly visited and documented the accident scene. Both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle involved in the collision are currently being held at Buyanja police station, awaiting inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (I.O.V). Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend the fleeing driver are actively underway.
