KISORO – The Former Chairman of the Nkuringo Conservation and Development Foundation (NCDF), Asgario Turyagyenda on Tuesday officially handed over the reins to the newly elected Chairman, Tumuhairwe B John, in a celebratory and tranquil ceremony held at Nkuringo Community Secondary School in Nkuringo Town Council.
After a dedicated seven years of service to the organization, Turyagyenda transferred all assets, documents, and projects to the new board.
Among the assets bequeathed were lands, Clouds Hotel, Mucwamba Health Facility, and Nkuringo Community Secondary School. Document-wise, land agreements, titles, and four ongoing court cases requiring attention from the new leadership were also handed over.
Turyagyenda expressed his pride in the organization’s accomplishments during his tenure, citing sponsorship of community members at all education levels, creation of employment opportunities, and contributions to community development such as providing livestock. However, he acknowledged challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, political interference, and internal conflicts.

During the handover, the newly elected board members and stakeholders praised Asgario for willingly relinquishing his position and commended him for championing the organization’s causes. They recognized his efforts in navigating various challenges on behalf of the NCDF.

Upon receiving the instruments of work as the new Chairman, Tumuhairwe John urged members to trust his leadership, pledging transparency in guiding the organization. He also committed to resolving all ongoing court cases, emphasizing the redirection of funds toward other developmental projects.

Kanyamunyu Fidelis, also known as Rubuz, the Chairman of NCDF Foundation members, lauded Asgario and his administration for leveraging his lobbying skills to secure funds from tourists, substantially expanding NCDF community projects. Rubuz advised the incoming board to initiate income-generating projects and avoid solely relying on the achievements of their predecessors.
