Below is the Copy of Petition by the members of St Augustine Kigezi Kampala Catholic Residents Association demanding for Review and Rectification of Judging Errors in the National Christmas Carol Music Competitions.

Dear Choristers Association of Uganda,I hope this letter finds you well. We, the members of St Augustine KKCRA Choir from Kabale Diocese, participated in the National Christmas Carol Music Competitions held on December 3rd, 2023, at Sheraton.

We would like to bring to your attention certain discrepancies and errors in the judging process that we believe require immediate review and rectification.

1. Tag Issuance and Choir Profile in Souvenir Magazine:

Our choir, along with six others, was not provided with tags as originally promised. Furthermore, our meticulously prepared choir profile, which was submitted for inclusion in the souvenir magazine, was inexplicably omitted. We request clarification and rectification of this oversight.

2. Recognition of Composer Bazilio Arinda:

Our choir director, Bazilio Arinda, composed two of the three songs we presented during the competition. However, to our disappointment, he received no recognition as a composer. We believe it is essential to acknowledge his artistic contribution, just as another composer was rightfully awarded in a different choir.

3. Judging Tallying Errors:

During the adjudication process, it came to our attention that a significant error occurred in tallying our points. A mistake in marking the Diction category led to a considerable discrepancy in our final score. Upon correction, our revised score of 248 points exceeded the declared winners’ score of 247 points. We urge you to address this error promptly and ensure transparency in the competition results.

4. Transparency and Fairness:

As believers in one faith, we uphold the values of transparency and fairness. We participated in good faith, dedicating time and effort to represent our choir and Kabale Diocese with honor. We believe that a fair and impartial review of the mentioned issues will not only uphold the integrity of the competition but also ensure that deserving choirs receive the recognition they earned through their dedication and talent.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to a resolution that upholds the principles of equity and justice.

Sincerely,
