RUBANDA – The Rubanda District Woman MP aspirant, Jacqueline Katabazi, has warned her supporters, urging them to refrain from engaging in violence as the 2025-2026 electoral campaigns approach.
The cautionary message was conveyed on Sunday during a thanksgiving and fundraising event held at Kyokyezo Church of Uganda in Kirwa Village, Kyokyezo Parish, Nyamweru Sub county, Rubanda District.
Addressing the gathering, Katabazi acknowledged the prevalent issue of electoral violence and extremist activities in Rubanda District during previous elections. She emphatically declared her commitment to a nonviolent approach and called upon her supporters to adopt the same stance.
Rubanda District’s current Woman MP, Ms. Prosy Mbabazi Akampurira Begumisa, the Commissioner of the Parliament of Uganda, is presently serving her second term in office.
Katabazi highlighted the importance of challenging incumbents based on their performance rather than resorting to abuse or violence.
“It’s true that when we decide to contest against the incumbent MPs, we are convinced that they have failed to perform to our expectations, but abusing them or resorting to violence is wrong,” remarked Ms. Katabazi.

Switching focus to the broader electoral landscape, Katabazi seized the opportunity to caution Ugandans against compromising their votes for monetary gain. She urged citizens to consistently demand better service delivery as the primary motivation for participating in political activities.
“Avoid accepting to sell your vote at any price because you’re going to have to wait for five more years to get that money again,” she stressed.

In a demonstration of her commitment to community development, Ms. Katabazi contributed UGX 1 million out of the UGX 1.2 million that Christians were mobilizing for electric wire installations at Kyokyezo Church of Uganda.
