KAMPALA – Aero Link Uganda, a privately owned airline licensed by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and holding an air operator’s certificate, has issued a warning to cease operations at Kisoro Airstrip due to its deteriorating infrastructure.

In a letter dated 2nd November 2023, signed by Ms Catherine Mugo, the Accountable Manager, it was emphasized that Kisoro Airstrip’s condition has significantly worsened, posing operational challenges.

Ms Mugo highlighted the presence of potholes, loose stones, and a concrete slab crossing the runway, creating substantial risks for aircraft and passengers.

Additionally, she expressed concern about tall trees at both ends of the runway, complicating maneuvering, especially in marginal weather conditions.

“While pilots have successfully navigated these challenges over the years, there’s a growing fear that the runway’s continued deterioration may lead to unforeseen incidents,” Ms Mugo stated.
