KABALE – The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, has summoned all Sub county chiefs and LC3 Chairpersons for a crucial meeting aimed at assessing the implementation of government programs and ensuring accountability of funds within their respective areas.

This move comes in the wake of the recent arrest of the Maziba Sub county chief and Accountant for the alleged misappropriation of over 25 million shillings, funds designated for the rehabilitation of roads in the area. RDC Nyakahuma expressed deep concern, noting that Sub county chiefs have, in some instances, relegated Sub county LC3 Chairpersons to mere spectators rather than actively overseeing government programs and delivering services to the public.

RDC Nyakahuma emphasized the pivotal role of LC3 Chairpersons in ensuring the success of the NRM government on the ground. He asserted that their effective performance directly contributes to the achievement of government objectives, but any disruptions can adversely affect service delivery.

During a meeting held at Kabale District headquarters last Friday, where the Maziba Sub county chief and Accountant faced intense scrutiny, RDC Nyakahuma made it clear that he would not tolerate such misconduct. He promptly directed the District Chief Administrative Officer to summon all Sub county chiefs and LC3 Chairpersons in the district for a meeting scheduled for this Thursday.

RDC Nyakahuma also disclosed that his office is prepared to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all projects managed within the district. The aim is to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of government initiatives.
