RUBANDA – Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi has urged residents in Rubanda District to secure land titles to protect their land from potential grabbers.

Rubanda District has been plagued by incidents of land grabbing, as seen in October of last year when 80-year-old Sikora Kokyenga, a resident of Kandiihe village, Nyaruhanga Parish, Ikumba Sub County, Rubanda District, faced the threat of losing her 25-acre land to unscrupulous individuals. A setback occurred when the ruling file granting her full rights mysteriously disappeared from the Kabale High Court, leading to her losing a case against her nephew, Furugence Kanyamugara.

Last Friday, authorities in Rubanda District also intervened in another land case, where some locals accused Rubanda Woman Member of Parliament, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi, of encroaching on public land in Karengyere Muko Sub County.
