KISORO – The Kisoro territorial Police recorded a serious accident on 5th August 2023, involving a white Toyota Hilux with registration number UG7056M, driven by Mr. Nsabiyinva Stephen, the DHO of Kisoro district, and an unknown motorcycle.
The incident occurred around 18:00 hrs at Nateete trading centre, Nyakinama sub-county, along the Kisoro-Bunagana road. Mr. Nsabiyinva was driving the Toyota Hilux towards Kisoro town when he allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed and collided with the unknown motorcycle, injuring the passenger’s leg. The Toyota Hilux continued at a high speed but lost control at Muhabura shine secondary school, resulting in an overturn and sustaining injuries.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, the suspected cause of the accident was overspeeding and dangerous overtaking by the driver of the motor vehicle.
The accident scene was attended by PC Mugisa Nicholas and a team of police officers who drew a sketch map. The injured victims were rushed to Mutolere hospital, and the motor vehicle was towed to Kisoro CPS for inspection. The authorities have initiated efforts to locate the motorcycle and its rider.
ASP Elly Maate confirmed that a case file for the serious accident was registered at Kisoro CPS under reference number TAR 35/2023, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
