Police in Rubanda District are investigating two separate fatal road accidents that claimed the lives of two boda boda riders along the Kabale–Kisoro highway within hours of each other.

In one of the incidents, police are currently stuck with the body of an unidentified male adult who reportedly died in a fatal road accident in the early hours of Tuesday morning along the Kabale–Kisoro road.

According to police, the crash occurred at around 3:00 a.m. on June 2, 2026, at Rwabinyindo Village in Rubanda Town Council, Rubanda District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFB 171Q, and was travelling from Rubanda towards Muko when he allegedly lost control of the motorcycle due to excessive speed.

The motorcycle was later towed to Rubanda Central Police Station (CPS) for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) as investigations into the exact cause of the crash continue.

Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could help identify the deceased to report to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old boda boda rider was also killed in another fatal road accident on Monday evening at around 6:40 p.m. at Hisensero Village in Muko Sub-county along the Kabale–Kisoro Highway.

The deceased, identified as Tumwesigye Vianne, was a resident of Mivune Village in Rubanda Town Council, Rubanda District.

According to preliminary police findings, Tumwesigye was riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFP 385F, from Kisoro towards Kabale when he reportedly rammed into the rear end of an Isuzu bus belonging to Jaguar Company, registration number UBF 667G.

Police say both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when the accident occurred at a sharp corner in Hisensero Village. It is alleged that the rider, due to excessive speed, failed to properly negotiate the bend and crashed into the rear of the bus, dying instantly.

Police officers visited and documented the scene before towing both the motorcycle and the bus to Rubanda Police Station for inspection.

The accidents have once again raised concerns over speeding and road safety among boda boda riders using the busy Kabale–Kisoro highway.
