RUKUNGIRI – One Person died, while three others sustained injuries in a road traffic accident that occurred yesterday around 09:30 AM at Rusheshe trading centre along Rukungiri Mitooma Road in Rukungiri District.
The involved motor vehicles include UFF 226Z Bajaj, ridden by the deceased Mubangizi Peter (29), a resident of Omumwino village, Rurehe parish, Rurehe Sub-county in Mitoma District, and UFF 679Z Bajaj, ridden by Ivan Tumijuka.
The victims are Owembabazi Daniel (27), a resident of Omumwino cell, Rurehe parish, Mitooma District, Tumijuka Ivan, and another unidentified passenger. They were promptly rushed to various hospitals for medical attention.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, reported that the scene was visited and documented by Cpl Oketayot and the team. Both motorcycles are currently parked at Rukungiri Central Police Station.
