Several Dead, Four Injured in Mubende-Mityana Road Accident

KASSANDA – Several individuals have tragically lost their lives and others have been injured in a fatal accident that took place at approximately 03:00 AM today at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kassanda District along the Mubende – Mityana highway.

According to SP Kawala Racheal, the Police Spokesperson for Wamala Region, four individuals have unfortunately lost their lives, and three others have sustained injuries as a result of this incident.

SP Kawala has confirmed that the deceased bodies have been transported to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations.

The victims have been identified as Nambusi Grace, 40 years old, from Kikajo, Namasuba in Wakiso District; Bright Patrick, 34 years old, a business person residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District; and Nadunga Lydia, 42 years old, a businesswoman residing in Kalerwe.

Preliminary investigations conducted by SP Kawala suggest that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle with registration UAY 415C, loaded with matooke and heading towards Kampala from Mubende, experienced a brake failure.

This unfortunate incident led to the vehicle losing control, overturning, and resulting in the tragic deaths of four occupants, with three others sustaining injuries.

The injured individuals have been transported to Mityana Hospital to receive the necessary medical care.

The Police have meticulously documented and examined the accident scene, and the involved motor vehicle has been towed to Myanzi Police Station for an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment.

SP Kawala emphasizes the critical importance of responsible driving.

She urges drivers not only to operate their vehicles prudently but also to ensure the proper maintenance and functionality of essential systems, such as brakes, before embarking on their journeys.
