Six people are nursing serious injuries while several others sustained minor injuries following a road accident that occurred on Monday evening along the Kasese–Kikorongo Highway in Kasese Town.
The victims were reportedly returning to Mitooma District from a burial in Rwimi when the accident happened near Kasese Cobalt Company Limited (KCCL).
According to one of the victims, Aloysius Asiimwe, their canter truck encountered a speeding taxi approaching from the Kikorongo direction.
He said their driver failed to avoid the oncoming vehicle, causing the canter, which was carrying about 32 passengers to overturn.
As a result, six passengers sustained serious injuries while many others suffered minor wounds.
Asiimwe further explained that well-wishers at the scene quickly contacted an ambulance from Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, which promptly responded and transported the injured to the health facility for treatment.
By press time, Police had not yet commented on the matter.
