A speeding motorcycle rider has died on the spot after crashing into a trailer at Mukyitenge Village in Hamurwa Sub-county along the Kabale–Kisoro Road in Rubanda District.
The deceased has been identified as Muhereza Martin, 32, a resident of Muruhita Village in Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District. He was riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UMA 129LN.
According to preliminary reports, the fatal accident occurred at around 6:00 PM on Monday when the rider reportedly failed to negotiate a corner and rammed head-on into a white low-bed trailer, registration number UN 26013.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, said traffic police responded swiftly to the scene, and the deceased’s body was conveyed to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
SP Tumushime urged all road users to observe speed limits, adhere to highway regulations, and respect fellow road users to prevent accidents.
