RUKUNGIRI – Police in Rukungiri District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal incident in which a 36-year-old man was hit by an Isuzu Bus belonging to Star Link Bus Company, resulting in his untimely death along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo Road.
The victim, identified as Kwesiga Aggrey, a resident of Nyarusanje in Rukungiri District, collided with the aforementioned motor vehicle today at approximately 9:00 AM. The tragic incident occurred at Kebisoni trading center while Kwesiga, along with his brother, was waiting for a vehicle en route to Kampala.
Kwesiga, who had been identified as a pedestrian, was hit by the Isuzu Bus with registration number UBF 966J, owned by Star Link Bus Company. The bus was being driven by Muhozi Yusuf, a 49-year-old resident of Kihiih in Kanungu District.
According to Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the police, the deceased suffered from mental illness, and despite immediate efforts, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Kebisoni Health Centre III, where he was rushed for medical treatment.
Maate further stated that the police conducted an on-site investigation, led by Corporal Oketayot and the team. The motor vehicle involved in the incident is currently awaiting inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (I.O.V).
