The National Chairperson Entrepreneur’s League aspirant, King Ceasor Augustus Mulenga, has unveiled a plan to inject Shs 1.8 billion into SACCOs across 18 sub-regions in a bid to bolster grassroots entrepreneurship and development across Uganda.
While addressing entrepreneur delegates from the Buganda region at the launch of the Central Region SACCO on Sunday, Mulenga said he had initially planned to allocate Shs 100 million per region. However, delegates proposed a more targeted approach by dividing the funding by sub-region to maximize impact.
“I have accepted their proposal,” he stated. “Each of the 18 sub-regions will now receive Shs 100 million, bringing the total investment to Shs 1.8 billion. This SACCO initiative is a vital step toward solving the issue of affordable credit for our entrepreneurs.”
Mulenga also announced the official opening of the National Entrepreneurs League Offices, located at Plot 2, Lugard Road, Nakasero. He described the offices as a national hub to coordinate, support, and guide all entrepreneurial efforts under the NRM.
He extended his gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the peace and stability that he said has enabled Uganda’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to flourish.
“Without this foundation, development and entrepreneurship would not thrive,” he remarked.
