Authorities in Rubaare Town Council, Ntungamo District, have announced a new trade order aimed at improving organization, safety, and compliance within the town’s business environment, set to take effect on April 15, 2026.
The initiative, led by Town Clerk Byamukama Emmanuel, is designed to create a more orderly and business-friendly atmosphere by streamlining commercial activities and ensuring adherence to local regulations.
Under the new measures, the council will reorganize the central business area and major roads by removing temporary structures and kiosks, clearing street vending activities, and ensuring that merchandise is kept within designated shop spaces.
The plan also includes addressing illegal developments and improving the management of public transport operations.
Authorities say the enforcement will be guided by key laws, including the Local Government Act, Physical Planning Act, Trade and Licensing Act, Public Health Act, and Market Act, to promote lawful and sustainable trade practices.
Traders and business owners have been encouraged to adjust their operations ahead of the deadline to ensure a smooth transition. The directive has been shared with key stakeholders, including the Resident District Commissioner, local leaders, and police, to support effective implementation.
The move is expected to transform Rubaare into a cleaner, safer, and more organized commercial hub, creating a better environment for both businesses and customers.
