44 Suspects Nabbed in Extensive Crackdown on Cattle Theft in Kiruhura

NEWS – Police in Kazo and Kiruhura districts have arrested 44 suspects in an intensified crackdown on cattle theft following numerous complaints from politicians, local leaders, and the community.

Out of the 44, 23 have been charged with stealing cattle, and 2 more are set to appear in court today, 16.10.2023.

Notable suspects charged include Nuwamanya Fred, 27, Ndyaguma Moses, 45, Ssentongo Jamada, 37, and others. Recovered items include 3 Premio model cars, motorcycles, 17 carcasses, and 5 other animals.

In Ssembabule district, four notorious suspects behind cattle theft, including Kasozi Nasser, Ssekyewa Moris, Sseruwu John, and gang leader Mpoza Alex, were apprehended.

Meanwhile, in Ssezibwa Region and Njeru, 4 butchers were arrested for dealing in meat from suspected stolen cattle.

Kyankwanzi Police pursued suspects planning a cattle theft on 14.10.2023, firing shots and deflating their vehicle’s tires. The suspects escaped, and the vehicle was impounded.
