Property worth millions of shillings has been destroyed in a fire outbreak at Mogas in Seeta.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said the fire, which broke out this morning, has disrupted traffic and caused significant damage.
Owoyesigyire confirmed that the Police Fire and Rescue Services responded promptly and are still working to contain the blaze. He added that the exact cause of the fire will be communicated in due course.
Due to ongoing firefighting operations, heavy traffic congestion has developed in the area, affecting the normal flow of vehicles. The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has advised motorists traveling from Mukono towards Kampala are advised to divert via Seeta–Sonde Road through Namugongo to access the city. Those heading from Kampala to Mukono are encouraged to use Jookas through Namanve Industrial Park or alternatively the Northern Bypass via Naalya–Sonde–Seeta.
Police say investigations are underway, and more details will be shared as they become available.
