The Anti-Corruption Court has remanded former Kamuli District Engineer Daniel Mufumba over allegations of abuse of office and causing financial loss amounting to more than UGX600 million from the Road Rehabilitation and Maintenance Fund.

Mufumba was arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday by the Anti-Corruption Unit, joins his former colleagues, Mukiibi Nasser, former Kamuli District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and Kifuuse Alex, former Chief Finance Officer (CFO), who had earlier been charged in connection with the same matter.

Prosecution alleges that between May and June 2025, the accused officials, while serving in their respective positions at Kamuli District Local Government, abused their authority by irregularly processing and approving payments that were detrimental to the interests of the district.

The suspects are accused of causing financial loss of over UGX600 million through questionable payments to suppliers, including Raven Knights Ltd and Total Uganda Limited, for supplies related to the rehabilitation of the Nawanyago-Kisozi Road.

The alleged payments covered fuel supplies, construction materials, diversion and traffic control signs, allowances, and other road maintenance-related expenses. Investigators further allege that Mufumba received part of the funds by paying himself money under the guise of being one of the suppliers involved in the project.
