HOIMA – The Anti-Corruption Court has found Vice Chairperson Chiche Benson, Secretary for Production Magambo Jackson, and Secretary for Finance Kumakech Geoffrey of Hoima District guilty of forgery.
They were convicted for falsifying executive committee minutes, falsely claiming authorization to lease out district road equipment to private individuals. This fraudulent activity involved a vibral roller and grader.
After a complaint was lodged, the Anti-Corruption State Unit, in collaboration with the police, arrested the accused officials, who have been on trial since 2021.
The investigation revealed their involvement in leasing district road equipment to a private businessman in Kiryandongo District.
The recovered equipment was subsequently returned to the Ministry of Works.
In light of their actions, the court has imposed a sentence on each official, requiring them to pay a cash fine of Ugx 5 million.
