Hotel Proprietor Arrested Over Alleged Employee Murder in Kanungu

KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District have apprehended hotel proprietor Justus Kananura in Kihihi town council for the suspected murder of his employee, Sam, a 25-year-old resident of Bugongo cell in Kihihi town council.

The incident, reported by Kananura, unfolded on October 28, 2023, at 10:00 PM when the deceased was discovered unconscious along Barangaine road.

Kananura claimed that a thief, who had broken into his hotel, was being fatally beaten by a mob.

Despite receiving first aid at Kihihi Health Centre IV, the victim, Sam, passed away before being referred to Kambuga or Bwindi hospital.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Kananura and stated that investigations are ongoing.
