Police in Kanungu District have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Isaac, only known by one name, in connection with the suspected murder of a 14-year-old boy.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 13, 2026, in Kigando Cell, Kiringa Parish, Kambuga Sub-county, after residents raised concern over a foul smell coming from a rented room in the trading centre.
According to police, residents broke into the room and discovered the decomposing body of Abindaryamu Deus, a male juvenile, inside.
Police immediately notified and responded to the scene. The deceased’s body was later conveyed to Kambuga Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said preliminary findings indicate that the victim was strangled, as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Tumushime appealed to residents of Kambuga Sub-county to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any information that could help in tracking and arresting the suspect.
“The public is encouraged to share any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect so that justice can take its course,” Tumushime said.
