Police in Kisoro District have arrested a35 year old man accused of defiling his biological daughter in Nyakabande Sub-county.
The suspect has been identified as Innocent Nteziyaremye, a resident of Kibaya Village, Gasiza Parish in Nyakabande Sub-county, Bufumbira East Constituency.
According to the Kisoro District Police Commander, SP Ben Niwamanya Kashumbusha, the incident happened on Thursday when neighbors reportedly caught Nteziyaremye in the act after hearing the child crying. Shocked residents rushed to the scene and immediately alerted police, who swiftly arrested the suspect.
SP Niwamanya condemned the act and urged members of the public to always report such offenders to help police protect children from sexual abuse.
He appealed to the community to stand against such acts and report wrongdoers in order to save innocent girls in society.
He revealed that Nteziyaremye was taken into custody at around 4:30 p.m. and is being held on charges of aggravated defilement.

Residents expressed shock over the incident, revealing that while cases of sexual abuse have been reported in the area before, they did not expect such a crime from a father against his own child.
