KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District have arrested Arinaitwe Ismail for questioning regarding the murder of a 45-year-old man in Kihihi town council.
The victim, identified as Buliga Alex from Rushenyi Village, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihihi town council, Kanungu district, met a tragic end allegedly involving Ismail.
According to a police statement, the incident unfolded yesterday around 9:00 AM at Rushenyi village, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihihi town council. Mzee Bagirana Bernard Mulefu, Ismail’s father, discovered clotted blood on a footpath while taking a shortcut to a funeral for Muhoozi’s Grandson. Upon closer inspection, he found a lifeless body. Quick to respond, neighbors like Kasisi were summoned, and the deceased was identified as Buliga Alex.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, revealed that upon notification, the police visited and documented the crime scene. They recovered suspected blood samples mixed with ash at the location. Arinaitwe Ismail was subsequently arrested in connection with the murder and taken in for questioning.
Maate further informed the public that the deceased’s body, which exhibited a deep open stab wound on the left side of the chest, was transported to Kihihi Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
