Police in Bushenyi District have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a man who was found dead in a lodge room in Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality.
The deceased, identified as Darius Nyehangane, reportedly checked into Addex Bar and Lodges at around 11pm on September 29, 2025. However, by 9am the following morning, he had not woken up, prompting the lodge owner to alert Ishaka Police.
Officers responded swiftly, documented the scene according to procedure, and transferred the body to Kitagata Hospital mortuary for a postmortem to establish the cause of death.
Police confirmed that the lodge owner has been detained to assist with ongoing inquiries.
Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa urged hospitality operators to tighten their security protocols.
“We appeal to all lodge and hotel owners and managers to always demand full particulars from their customers and have them captured in their registration books for security reasons,” SP Tayebwa said.
Police say investigations are still underway to uncover the circumstances leading to Nyehangane’s death.
