KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District are investigating the lynching of 30-year-old Joshua Turyasingura in Kihihi town council.
Turyasingura, accused of defiling and murdering a 13-year-old girl, was apprehended by a mob in Rutendere central cell, Kayonza sub-county.
After hitting the victim with a log, he fled to his father’s home in Buhoma Town council, where he was captured and lynched yesterday at around 3:30Pm.
Elly Maate, Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that police arrived late due to Turyasingura’s history as a habitual criminal.
Maate says that crime scene was documented, and the body was sent for postmortem at Kihihi Health Center IV.
