RUKUNGIRI: Police in Rukungiri District are investigating the alleged murder of a 45-year-old man in Bugangari Sub County.
The victim, Edson Byaruhanga, resided in Ruhira cell, Kazindiro parish, Bugangari sub-county, Rukungiri district. According to a police statement, he was discovered unconscious around 02:00 PM yesterday at Kazindiro trading center by passersby.
Found lying unconscious in front of Sarah’s bar by Owakubariho Aggrey, who promptly alerted Byaruhanga’s wife, Tumuhirwe Allen, and her father-in-law, Rukanyemera Bernard, Ampaire Justine, and others. They rushed to the scene, calling Sidi Karerangaro, who transported him to Nyakibale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then taken back home.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that Bugangari Police were notified by the area chairperson, Ruhindi Twijukye, and a case of suspected murder was reported.
The crime scene was visited, examined, and documented, with statements recorded from relevant witnesses. The body was subsequently taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate urged anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Byaruhanga’s death to come forward voluntarily so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
