KISORO – Police in Kisoro District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide of 25-year-old Sarah Narukwanga, who was the wife of Samuel Imalingati, a police officer in the Field Force Unit department assigned to Nyarusiza police post.
On the morning of September 18, 2023, Imalingati left his wife and their one-year-old baby at home to prepare breakfast.
He briefly went to a nearby unipot to read books and returned after approximately 30 minutes. Upon his return, he discovered his wife hanged in a wrapper and unresponsive.
He promptly alerted his fellow police officers about the tragic incident.
In response to the report, officers from Kisoro Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene, securing and preserving it for investigation purposes.
The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, stated that the district Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and a team of detectives conducted a thorough examination of the scene, collecting crucial forensic evidence.
Maate also informed our reporter that Sarah Narukwanga’s body was taken to Kisoro mortuary for postmortem examination, and inquiries to determine the underlying reasons for her actions have been launched.
