RUKUNGIRI – Police in Rukungiri District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of 40-year-old Jacklin Kyomukama.
Jacklin was a resident of Keitumuro cell, Northern B Ward, Eastern Division in Rukungiri district.
According to reports, the deceased was last seen at Narasi bar in Keitumuro trading center on the evening of 8th July 2023. She was enjoying some local drink known as Kabiriti in the company of others around 10:00 PM.
Her biological son, Niwamanya Simpson, noticed her at the bar before he left for a show at Rukungiri stadium.
The following morning, as Niwamanya was still in bed at 9:00 AM, his father woke him up with the tragic news that his mother had been discovered dead in the eucalyptus trees or farm belonging to Kajanja in Keitumuro cell. The body was found by herdsmen.
Niwamanya immediately reported the incident to the area chairman of Keitumuro cell, who advised him to inform the police.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, stated that a report was promptly filed, and the police visited and processed the scene. The body was then transferred to the mortuary at Rwakabengo Health Centre III for a postmortem examination.
