RUKIGA: Police in Rukiga District have arrested a Rwandan national, Fosta Twizemana, for allegedly sexually assaulting his 6-year-old biological daughter.
Twizemana, a herdsman from Kayebe Cell, Kigara Parish in Kamwezi Sub-County, is accused of committing the offense last Friday on a farm where he was grazing cattle. He had gone to the farm with his wife, Veneranda Baresirente (40), and their two daughters, aged 2 and 6.
While at the farm, Twizemana called the children away from their mother, who was digging. He then sent the 2-year-old away and sexually assaulted the 6-year-old. After the assault, he sent her back to her mother. Upon arrival, the mother noticed the child sitting alone and observed blood stains on her thighs. When questioned, the child revealed that her father had assaulted her.
The mother immediately reported the incident to Kamwezi Police Station. Twizemana was arrested and transferred to Rukiga Central Police Station for further investigation.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, condemned the act as barbaric and uncivilized, questioning how a parent could betray a child’s trust in such a manner. Maate stated that the suspect will be charged in court once inquiries are complete.
